We want to give you the gift of time by offering to care for your loved one so you can spend time doing whatever you want / need to do.

According to the Joni and Friends Respite Manual, Respite is “temporary relief for family caregivers from the ongoing responsibility of caring for an individual of any age with special needs” (Tipler, 2010). Similarly, the Lifespan Respite Care Act of 2006 defines respite care as “planned or emergency care provided to a child or adult with a special need in order to provide temporary relief to the family caregiver of that child or adult” (Administration on Aging, 2009). Although respite definitions vary among organizations and service delivery systems, they all share the main idea that respite allows family caregivers to take a short pause from their continuous tasks as caregivers while their loved ones continue to be cared for at home or in safe, meaningful, and appropriate community settings.
