COFFEE SOCIAL - 10am-11:30am

Our Friday activities start off in the church coffee shop (The Hub) at 10am with a Coffee Social. Our Coffee Social offers a unique type of atmosphere that most people have experienced and probably take for granted.  This type of community experience is something that most of our friends who have developmental disabilities rarely if ever have the opportunity to experience. In addition to the unique experience for the participant, a side benefit is the respite that it offers the caregiver.

According to joniandfriends.org respite literally means “a period of rest or relief.” Respite events provide parents a temporary relief from the responsibilities of caring for children with physical or intellectual disabilities. Respite is a gift of time. It is a church outreach activity that draws otherwise cautious families over the threshold and into the church because respite meets a valuable and practical need. - Joni and Friends Respite Handbook.

EXERCISE CLASS / LUNCH - 11:30am-12:30pm

This class meets you where you are.  Every ability level is welcome.

ART THERAPY - 12:30pm-1:30pm

This is a time of relaxation, contemplation and art.  We have found that the participants enjoy interacting with one another as they work on their art projects.  We call it "Therapy" because the conversations tend to be more internally reflective during this time.
